Wednesday, July 25, 2012 - 12:30pm

Join us in commemorating the two-year anniversary of the Kalamazoo River Tar Sands spill and saying NO to Tar Sands threatening the health and well being of communities along Puget Sound!

We'll be creating a "Human Tar Sands Spill" on the steps of the Seattle City Council to let our elected officials know we need action to protect Puget Sound from Tar Sands expansion.

When:  Wednesday July 25th at 12:30 PM

Where: Seattle City Hall (600 4th Ave, Seattle, WA)

What: Washington Communities are living in the toxic shadow of Tar Sands refineries, tankers carrying Tar Sands carry the threat of a catastrophic spill through Puget sound every week and Tar Sands pipelines put our waterways at risk.

On top of this Big Oil wants to more than triple the amount of Tar Sands coming through the North West. But communities in Washington are standing up and saying NO to Big Oil's dirty plans.

Speakers will include:

KC Golden - Policy Director for Climate Solutions and 350.org Board Member

Fred Felleman - North West Consultant for Friends of the Earth

Emily Johnston - Seattle Activist arrested last summer during the Tar Sands Action sit-ins at the White House.

Sandy Cioffi -A Seattle based film and video artist and a tenured professor at Seattle Central Community College. Her most recent film is a documentary about the Niger Delta titled Sweet Crude.

Join us on July 25th.
